A Cross-Country Drive

Our trip, from west to east - - -

The Last Days of (PDX) Summer

An overdue update - photos from our last few weeks in Portland! We visited the Japanese garden for O-tsukimi (autumn moonviewing), printed new Christmas cards for our shop, ate at some of our favorite restaurants for the last time, visited the Pacific Ocean to say "til next time!", and packed and packed and packed.

News!

Hi, blog, it's been a while! It seems like we just returned from California, but it's already been a month. Our summer hasn't quite been what we expected - business is going really well, instead of slowing down to a trickle like it usually does in the summer. It's also been just about the opposite of what we've come to expect from mild PNW summers - it's been super hot! The temperature has been hovering around 90ยบ for what seems like forever. We've definitely been wishing we had air conditioning!

In other news, we have news! We've decided to move back to New York! We started thinking about it a few months ago and then it turned out we couldn't stop thinking about it and then we decided we should do something about it. So we are! It's a little overwhelming to be moving so far away (again), but hopefully having done it before will make it easier.

We'll be sad to leave Portland, and especially to leave everything that surrounds Portland, but we're happy we got to spend a few years out here, seeing all of the beautiful scenery and exploring a new part of the world. I think having lived here will make living in New York again a different experience. When we lived in New York before, we spent all of our time in the city. But there are beautiful mountains and rivers and seashores close by, just like there are near Portland! So we're hoping to keep up the hiking and outdoor exploring we do out here when we go back.

We're leaving in early October, stopping in Cleveland through the end of December. We're excited to hang out with my family for a few months, be back east for autumn weather (the perfect time of year there!), and see friends from New York again. Found some pictures I took not too long before we left and scanned them - excited to go back!
