day two: lunch & sunset on the beach

After our cenote adventure, we decided to go to the other end of town for lunch, since we had the car out already - and La Barracuda was recommended by our host so we went for it.

I had mixed ceviche (with shrimp, fish, and octopus), fish tacos, and pineapple agua fresca. It was all delicious! We loved how every restaurant in Tulum was either open to the street or had outdoor seating. There was always a nice breeze, so it was never too hot and the mosquitos didn't bother us. After lunch, after after lunch, a sunset on the beach was in order. The beach faces east, but it's always pretty to see a sunset by the ocean, even if the sun doesn't sink into the horizon!

It was pretty perfect! We went to dinner in town and had a waitress who spoke Spanish so fast we had to think about it for a second every time she said something...but we figured it out in the end! I had a traditional Mayan dish, tikin xic, which is fish that's marinated and wrapped in banana leaves and baked. It was really tasty and quite different than the kind of Mexican food we have in the US!
